Let's get down to it.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, an to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. With that said, I want to say our country is going to hell in a Gucci handbag. Everywhere I turn the division facing our country is unmistakeable. The sad part about it is that as a nation is there one thing we agree on? I'm not just talking about "serious" issues but simple things like who makes the best "iced tea?". Think about throughout your day how many times do you disagree with people? I'm not saying anything is wrong with that, I just think it creates an unconscious mentality of selfishness. Obviously we are a country of diversity, so it unrealistic to even think of agreeing on most things. Really take a look at the world around you and ask yourself why are we always having to choose a side? Throughout my travels across this great land of ours I see a lot of good things and a lot of bad things and a lot of schizophrenic things. I am proud to be an American and I do understand the reality of the world, but the one thing that disappoints me is the lack of unity. My school is better than yours, my town is better than yours, my state is better than yours, my church is better than yours, my views are better than yours. I have actually heard these statements from people. What do people feel inside that make them think this way? I heard someone once say "satisfaction is the death of desire" and unfortunately I think it applies to us here in US. Even with all the problems and issues facing our country on a personal level most people are content with their lives and possibly feel that as long as the problems and issues facing our country don't affect them then why bother trying to work it out. The question of the day is... Are you a citizen or just a person that happens to live in this country?
